As of the morning of May 21, more than 160 settlements in six regions of Ukraine were left without power due to heavy rain and thunderstorms.
Ukrenergo reports this.
According to the company, severe weather has caused partial or complete power outages in communities in the Kyiv, Chernihiv, Cherkasy, Kharkiv, Poltava, and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Repair crews are working to restore the damaged networks.
Additionally, as a result of Russian drone attacks and artillery shelling, some consumers in the Zaporizhzhia, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv, and Sumy regions remain without power. Emergency recovery efforts are continuing where security conditions permit.
Ukrenergo also reported that as of the morning of May 21, electricity consumption was 2.9% lower than the same time the previous day. This is due to clear weather in most regions and the efficient operation of residential solar power plants.
At the same time, on the evening of May 20, the daily maximum consumption increased by 2.5% due to rising temperatures and increased use of air conditioners.
Power engineers are urging Ukrainians to use electricity sparingly and not to turn on several powerful electrical appliances simultaneously between 6:00 PM and 10:00 PM.
