More than a thousand homes in Kyiv remain without heating.
As of February 4, more than 1,100 apartment buildings in Kyiv remain without heat. More than 200 repair crews are working to restore heat, and their number is expected to increase in the near future.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced this following a daily meeting on the energy emergency following Russian shelling.
According to him, the most difficult situation is in Kyiv and the Kyiv region, as well as in Kharkiv, Sumy, and Poltava regions. The situation also remains challenging in several regions of central Ukraine, particularly in the Dnipro and Cherkasy regions.
The President noted that more than 200 teams are carrying out restoration work in the capital alone. At the same time, according to the Ministry of Energy, their number is planned to be increased to ensure rotation, as workers are working in grueling conditions. The President issued separate instructions on this matter to the Commander-in-Chief of the Ukrainian Air Force and the Minister of Defense.
In addition, reports were heard on the situation in Kharkiv and the communities of the Kharkiv, Sumy, Chernihiv, and Kyiv regions, in the cities of the Dnipropetrovsk, Cherkasy, and Poltava regions, in Kherson, Odessa and the region, the Donetsk region, as well as in the Vinnytsia, Chernivtsi, and Zhytomyr regions.
Separately, Volodymyr Zelenskyy instructed Prime Minister Yulia Svyrydenko to prepare by this evening specific estimates of the amount of additional support needed for communities across the country. He also stated that a number of tasks have been submitted to the Headquarters for review.
