In the Chasovy Yar area, Russian soldiers have begun to surrender en masse to Ukrainian units. According to Ukrainian military officials, the number of prisoners taken in a week exceeds the total for the entire past year.
This is reported by “ArmiaInform” .
Ivan Petrychak, head of the communications department of the 24th separate mechanized brigade named after King Danylo, stated that Russian units are using the tactics of assaults in small groups without proper planning and the possibility of evacuation.
“Currently, the enemy is massively throwing infantry into assaults in small groups. This is done without proper planning and without any chance of evacuation. Often, “penalties” fall into such groups – those who have committed some offense, in particular due to alcohol,” said Ivan Petrychak.
According to him, Russian military personnel are increasingly trying to surrender to Ukrainian forces.
“When we say ‘massively’, we mean it literally. We have more prisoners in any one week this year than in the entire last year,” said Ivan Petrychak.
He noted that the motivation of Russian soldiers decreases after reaching the front, and they try to surrender despite the instructions they receive.
“The motivation of such soldiers has noticeably dropped – once at the front, they don’t want to die and are increasingly trying to surrender, despite instructions to “blow themselves up with a grenade,” said Ivan Petrychak.
Ukrainian military personnel have also recorded instances of Russian forces attacking their own soldiers who are trying to surrender. One such episode was captured on video released by the 24th Brigade’s media resources.
“Regarding the moment of the hit: the trajectory is visible in the video — the FPV drone approached from behind and hit the farthest Russian soldier who was walking behind,” said Ivan Petrychak.
He added that the practice of destroying one’s own soldiers for refusing to fight or attempting to retreat, according to him, is known among Russian units.
The officer also reported that Russian military personnel who surrender usually explain their participation in the war by material reasons or personal problems.
“The motivation of such Russian soldiers is mostly mundane – money, debts, an attempt to “escape” from problems. At the front, they realize that the chance of survival is minimal,” said Ivan Petrychak.
We will remind that the “Brotherhood” unit of the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine carried out a special operation in the Zaporizhia direction, penetrating the rear of Russian troops near the Kakhovka reservoir . During the combat operation, Ukrainian intelligence officers eliminated two Russian soldiers, wounded two more and captured two.
