Moscow attacked by drones and balloons: over 100 flights canceled at four airports

In Moscow and the Moscow region on October 9, drone and small balloon attacks were reported, and residents of the capital reported explosions and air defense operations. Due to the air threat, the “Carpet” plan was implemented at 4 Moscow airports, and hundreds of flights were delayed or canceled.

According to local residents, explosions were heard in several areas of Moscow, including Kapotny, Kuzminki, Lyublino, Maryino, Tsaritsyno, Chertanovo and Orekhovo-Borisovo. Residents also reported air defense operations.
Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said that as of 5:56 p.m., 15 drones had been shot down. He said emergency services were working at the scene of the debris.
Restrictions on aircraft arrivals and departures were imposed at Vnukovo, Domodedovo, Zhukovsky, and Sheremetyevo airports. According to Telegram channels, 3 of them were out of service the previous night due to a drone attack.
According to journalists, more than 200 flights were delayed at Moscow airports, and more than 100 were canceled. The number of delayed and canceled flights varies in different reports.
Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov also announced a drone strike in Podolsk. According to him, a man was killed and a woman was injured. After the strike, 3 cars caught fire, and windows were broken in a neighboring apartment building.
Meanwhile, according to unofficial information, Vladimir Putin cannot land in Moscow due to the bullet attack. Volunteer Sergey Sternenko posted a screenshot on his Telegram channel, which states that due to the closure of airports in Moscow, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s plane cannot land.
Earlier, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said that Ukraine’s FP-9 ballistic missile will be ready this fall. According to him, the missile will have a range sufficient to reach Moscow .
