Russia’s line on keeping troops in their current positions in Ukraine remains unchanged. Thus, Moscow effectively rejected Donald Trump’s initiative for a ceasefire in Ukraine.

This was announced by Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov, UNIAN reports .

When asked whether Washington had sent Moscow an official notice of its refusal to supply Kyiv with Tomahawks, Peskov replied that no formal notice had been received. He clarified that the Kremlin was focusing on public statements and that an exchange of positions between Moscow and Washington was possible during contacts at the working and expert levels.

The spokesman did not comment on media reports about Putin and Trump allegedly discussing possible territorial exchanges between Ukraine and Russia. According to him, preparations for the Putin-Trump summit in Budapest have not yet begun.

“There are no details yet regarding the Russia-US summit in Budapest, there is still a lot of work ahead for foreign policy departments,” Peskov noted.

At the same time, he added that Russia expects to advance the Ukrainian settlement through peaceful means and discuss bilateral relations with the United States during the upcoming summit. Peskov stressed that the position of Moscow and President Putin on a peaceful resolution of the conflict remains consistent and well-known.

At the same time, rumors recently appeared in the media that during a meeting with Volodymyr Zelensky, US President Donald Trump allegedly demanded that Russia give in and give it the entire territory of Donbas. However, the American leader soon denied this information as false . Trump explained that during the conversation, the only topic discussed was the need to stop the fighting.

It was also previously reported that President Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented in detail on the possibility of a meeting with Putin , the transfer of Tomahawk missiles, and the prospects for ending the war. He also outlined his position on Donbas, sanctions, and energy agreements.

Recall that on the evening of Thursday, October 16, US President Donald Trump revealed the first details of his telephone conversation with Russian leader Vladimir Putin. The American leader emphasized that he intends to meet with the Kremlin leader in Hungary in order to put an end to Russia’s war against Ukraine.
