Moscow Sets a Condition for Ending the War: Nebenzia Delivers Message at UN

Russia has signaled that it is prepared to continue the war against Ukraine by military means if Kyiv refuses to accept Moscow’s demands. Speaking at the UN, Russian envoy Vasily Nebenzia said there can be no peaceful settlement without recognition of what Moscow calls the “realities on the ground,” referring to the territories Russia claims to have annexed.
This was stated by Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN, Vasily Nebenzia, during a meeting of the UN General Assembly.
According to Nebenzia, Moscow sees no possibility of ending the war diplomatically without Ukraine’s agreement to Russian demands.
“Without recognition of the existing realities on the ground, there will be no peaceful resolution of the conflict in Ukraine,” said the Russian representative.
He also accused the Ukrainian authorities of allegedly refusing to recognize the “choice of millions of people” and eliminate the so-called “root causes of the crisis.”
In addition, Nebenzia stated that Russia’s contacts with Western countries regarding the war against Ukraine have effectively ceased.
As a reminder, Russia is preparing for a possible increase in attacks on Ukraine amid the lack of progress in talks to end the war. Moscow, in particular, is considering new ballistic missile strikes on Kyiv and other Ukrainian cities.
As reported, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov spoke about the Kremlin’s position on negotiations with the United States regarding the war in Ukraine and stated that Moscow is supposedly used to resolving issues “nobly” and “boyishly.”
By the way, the Kremlin stated that a meeting between US President Donald Trump, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, and Vladimir Putin is possible only after reaching preliminary agreements. Moscow believes that the summit should be devoted to finalizing the final agreement rather than holding initial negotiations.
