Mossad, Cyber Units, Military: How Israel Prepared Its Attack on Iran
Israel’s operation targeting Iran’s nuclear and military facilities was secretly and intensively prepared over eight months.
This was reported in Axios.
Israel had been planning a coordinated strike on Iran’s nuclear infrastructure for several months. The operation involved the following components:
-
- Israeli military;
-
- Mossad;
-
- cyber units.
Benjamin Netanyahu stated that Israel aimed to eliminate Iran’s nuclear capabilities and ballistic missile program.
Israel also attempted to eliminate Iranian nuclear scientists — approximately 25 were targeted. At least two are believed to have been killed in the Israeli strike. Iran’s top military leadership was also targeted: the commander of the Revolutionary Guard, the chief of staff, and another general are also believed to have been killed.
Israel used more than just airstrikes. Mossad operatives reportedly sabotaged elements of Iran’s air defense systems.
“Israel is expected to continue striking Iran’s underground nuclear facilities, as well as other targets, in the coming days,” Axios reported.
Netanyahu called Iran’s missile and nuclear programs an existential threat and said they were the primary target of the attack.
The Israeli military noted that one factor accelerating the operation was intelligence on Iran’s nuclear weapons research, suggesting that Tehran could build a bomb more quickly if it chose to.
Donald Trump tried to conclude a new nuclear deal with Iran, Israel was preparing for an operation against Tehran – gathering intelligence, deploying forces and assets, and conducting training.
Recall that on the night of Friday, June 13, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation against Iran and massively attacked nuclear and military facilities.
Earlier, it became known that Iran refused to participate in negotiations with the United States regarding its nuclear program, scheduled for June 15.
