MP Kniazhitsky appealed to the SBU due to a Russian information attack against him.
People’s Deputy Mykola Knyazhitskyi has appealed to the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to investigate the Russian smear campaign organized against him.
The politician published a corresponding appeal on his Facebook page.
“I, Mykola Leonidovych Knyazhitsky, People’s Deputy of Ukraine, am hereby requesting an investigation into the circumstances of the attempts to discredit me personally and the Ukrainian law enforcement system, which are being carried out by Viktor Medvedchuk’s media outlets and the Russian FSB.
“So, on October 30th and 31st, the websites “Other Ukraine” and “Ukraine.ru” simultaneously published reports claiming I was on the international wanted list for rape, which I allegedly committed in Cambodia. This information has been refuted numerous times over the past ten years. The campaign to discredit me took place in 2015 and was orchestrated from Moscow,” the MP noted.
The politician noted that the “Other Ukraine” resource belongs to Viktor Medvedchuk, while “Ukraine.ru” officially belongs to the Russian federal agency “Russia Today.”
“It’s clear that discrediting Ukrainian state institutions and politicians is a deliberate policy of the Russian Federation as an aggressor state. The full-scale invasion of Ukraine had the initial goal of overthrowing Ukraine’s constitutional order and installing traitors at the helm of our country, guided by the Kremlin. But how will this not happen?” The front and special information operations throughout the country, the overall goal of which is the same: destabilizing the country and inciting individuals in society to overthrow the constitutional order and liquidate state institutions in favor of the aggressor state.
According to Knyazhitsky, administrators of several Ukrainian Telegram channels and a number of Ukrainian bloggers were also involved in organizing and carrying out provocations against him.
“Yes, the administrators of the Telegram channels ‘Card Office,’ ‘Times of Ukraine,’ and ‘Insider.UA’ participated in organizing the Russian operation against me. As far as we know, these channels are run by Ukrainian citizens located in the country,” he added.
The deputy emphasized that Viktor Medvedchuk has a personal grudge against him.
“Back in 2016, he accused me of allegedly wanting to kill him, and even went to court to compel the National Police of Ukraine to open a criminal case against me. I attribute this information attack to this, in which the said individual enlisted the resources of the FSB and the Ukrainian disinformation network, which, together with Russian intelligence agencies, are targeting parliamentary institutions as part of a program to discredit the entire government in Ukraine and convince society of the need to replace the legitimate Ukrainian government by any means necessary,” the politician says.
Knyazhitskyi called on the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) to investigate links between Russian propaganda websites and Ukrainian citizens involved in creating content for the channels that disseminated fake news about him. Furthermore, the MP demands that a pre-trial investigation be initiated into the criminal offense under Article 111 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and that the relevant information be entered into the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations.
