Murder Suspect Farion Names Motive for His Crime

Vyacheslav Zinchenko, a suspect in the murder of Ukrainian linguist and political activist Iryna Farion, has confessed to his cellmate.

This became known during the court hearing on August 22, Obshchestvennoye reports.

Prosecutor Dmytro Petlirovanny read out a recording of a conversation between Zinchenko and his cellmate. When asked why he killed Farion, the accused replied:

“Based on personal animosity… I treated her badly. She spoke badly… about Russian speakers.”

At the same time, Zinchenko himself stated that what he said could not be considered evidence, since he responded that way “so that they would leave him alone.”

The suspect’s lawyer stressed that his client should be alone in the cell and called for the identities of those who communicated with him in the pretrial detention facility to be established.

Let us recall that on July 19, on T. Masaryk Street in Lviv , an assassination attempt was made on Iryna Farion , an odious Ukrainian politician, a notorious linguist and teacher.
