NABU and SAP Search Home of Former Tax Service Chief Karnaukh — Media

On September 15, NABU and SAP searched Lesya Karnaukh, who previously served as head of the State Tax Service and as deputy to former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko.

Ukrainska Pravda reports this, citing sources in political circles.

According to the publication, authorities searched Karnauch on the same day the Cabinet of Ministers dismissed her from her position.

As the UP notes, on the same day, former Prosecutor General Ruslan Kravchenko left Ukraine.

Journalists contacted the NABU and the SAPO for comments on the search. Both agencies said they would not comment on the information.

Other details, including the reasons for the search and the case in which it was conducted, are not available at this time.

The day before, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy removed Kravchenko as Prosecutor General.

Before that, Kravchenko said that he had signed a notice of suspicion to NABU Director Semen Kryvonos. NABU stated that Kryvonos had not been officially served with suspicion and called the Prosecutor General’s actions a continuation of a systemic attack on anti-corruption agencies.

Later, the Prosecutor General’s Office denied the claim that it had reported suspicions to the head of NABU. They reported that the corresponding marks in the Unified Register of Pre-Trial Investigations had been canceled.

Also on September 14, it became known that Kravchenko went on a five-day business trip to Paris. The purpose of the trip was stated to be participation in a hearing of the PACE parliamentary network.
