National Anti-Corruption Bureau Director Semyon Krivonos was questioned about the summoning of National Security and Defense Council Secretary Rustem Umerov as part of the so-called “Mindich case.”
He reported this in a comment to Ukrainska Pravda, emphasizing that Umerov is not a suspect.
“Umerov has indeed been questioned. I cannot disclose his status. I can only say that he is not currently a suspect or accused. I will refrain from any further comment, as it could undermine the pre-trial investigation,” Krivonos said.
According to sources, the interrogation is related to a back office investigation, which investigators believe was organized by businessman Timur Mindich. NABU has not yet released any further details.
It was previously reported that Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council Rustem Umerov was questioned by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau as a witness in a criminal case involving a “back office” that, according to investigators, was organized by businessman Timur Mindich.
It should be added that the head of the Presidential Office, Andriy Yermak, also appears on the “Mindich tapes,” released by NABU as part of an investigation into corruption in the energy sector.
Incidentally, Andriy Sinyuk, deputy head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office, resigned voluntarily . He explained that he wanted to avoid speculation surrounding the internal investigation.
It was previously reported that investigators had identified the identity of the person behind the pseudonym “Professor” on the tapes involved in the Timur Mindich corruption case.
As a reminder, the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office have come close to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy , as discussed in the article “Friend of Kolomoisky and Zelenskyy: Who is Timur Mindich?”
