NABU is investigating Shovkovsky: the case concerns $250,000 and advertising revenue

NABU is investigating a case involving Kyiv City Council member and former football player Oleksandr Shovkovskyi. The case involves the possible extortion of $250,000, the use of connections in law enforcement agencies, and advertising revenue from the bookmaker company “Betking”.

According to the publication, NABU registered a criminal case on August 13. The case is based on a conflict surrounding the premises of a shooting range on Solomyanka Street in Kyiv.

Since 2021, the premises have been rented by the company “TAKTIK”, which in the materials submitted to NABU is linked to Shovkovsky and his wife.

According to the contract, the company was to renovate the premises at its own expense and not pay rent for the time being. The scope of work had to be agreed with the owner, and the costs had to be confirmed with documents.

The contract was terminated in 2023. In the acceptance and transfer act, the parties noted that they had no claims against each other. Later, the premises were continued to be used under sublease terms.

A few years later, the owner decided to sell the premises. According to the publication, a conflict then arose over the $250,000 that was allegedly spent on renovations.

The materials submitted to NABU claim that the owner was demanded to return the money. If he refused, he was allegedly threatened with problems with law enforcement and criminal prosecution.

In March, searches were conducted at the offices of the company “ZAVOD EXPRESS”, which owned the premises, and at the home of its owner. The man was detained, and two days later the court sent him into custody with the possibility of posting 10 million hryvnia bail.

The next day, Shovkovskyi commented on the situation. He wrote on social media that due to the property owner’s unwillingness to “negotiate,” he had to contact law enforcement. He also expressed hope that after this, the owner would “want to make contact” and “resolve the issue peacefully.”

According to the publication, NABU is also investigating whether Shovkovskyi could have used his deputy status and connections in law enforcement agencies in this conflict.

Separately, his cooperation with the betting company “Betking” is mentioned. In the spring of 2026, Shovkovsky appeared in the company’s advertising project “Predict with Shovkovsky.”

The materials submitted to NABU claim that Shovkovsky’s declaration does not contain information about income from this advertising. It also allegedly does not indicate the right to claim $250,000, which caused the conflict over the premises.

NABU is currently verifying the circumstances set forth in the materials. There is no mention of Shovkovskyi being notified of the suspicion.
