National Flag Day: Holiday Cards

Every year on August 23, Ukraine celebrates the Day of the National Flag – one of the main symbols of national identity, freedom and invincibility.

The blue and yellow flag was first raised over the Verkhovna Rada on September 4, 1991, and on January 28, 1992 it was officially approved as the State Flag of Ukraine. Since then, it has become not just a symbol of statehood, but a true embodiment of the spirit of Ukrainians.

Our flag has flown on the summit of Everest, met the Antarctic winds at the Akademik Vernadsky station, flown into space with the first cosmonaut of independent Ukraine, accompanied peacekeepers in the hottest spots of the world. It was on the Maidan, on the front lines, on board the minesweeper Cherkassy in occupied Crimea, in the positions and hearts of the defenders.

Today, blue and yellow is the flag of victory, fluttering over free cities and awaiting its return to temporarily occupied ones.
