National Guard official tried to “buy” disability for himself to be released from service: details of the case

Employees of the State Bureau of Investigation detained the head of one of the support units of the National Guard of Ukraine for attempting to obtain a fictitious disability. The official tried to give a bribe in order to obtain a second group of disability and be discharged from military service.

This was reported by the press service of the State Bureau of Investigation.

According to the investigation, the colonel offered a member of the expert team for the assessment of daily functioning an improper benefit of $6,000 for the registration of disability. At the same time, he had no real grounds for establishing such a group.

Law enforcement officers detained the official after he transferred part of the funds in the amount of $3,000, as well as medical documents with signs of forgery.

He has now been charged with providing an improper benefit to an official.

The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to 8 years in prison.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the issue of choosing a preventive measure is also being resolved. The Office of the Prosecutor General is responsible for procedural management.

Earlier, in the Rivne region, the deputy head of the regional SBU department was detained while receiving a large bribe.
