National Police uncovers weapons caches across Ukraine: over 1,000 weapons seized

Law enforcement officers have uncovered large-scale illegal arms trafficking schemes in various regions of Ukraine. As a result of a special operation, 20 weapons caches were discovered and over 1,000 weapons and ammunition were seized.

This was reported by the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police.

During the operation, detectives, police investigators, SBU officers, prosecutors, and explosives technicians conducted over 180 searches across the country. As a result, 32 people were charged with illegal possession and sale of weapons.

Weapon caches were found both in front-line regions and in western regions, in particular in Volyn, Transcarpathia, Ivano-Frankivsk, Chernivtsi and Chernihiv regions.

In total, over 150 small arms, more than 900 grenades, grenade launchers and mines, over 56 thousand rounds of ammunition, about 80 kg of explosives, as well as magazines and parts for weapons were seized during the operation.

The investigation is ongoing.

As a reminder, the Security Service of Ukraine, together with the National Police , detained four more people who were trying to organize the illegal sale of captured weapons.
