NATO is testing a new system to combat drones, created taking into account Ukrainian combat experience.

This was reported by the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.

The department emphasized that this initiative shows that Ukraine not only receives assistance from partners, but also shares its own experience gained during modern warfare.

One of the main challenges for the Alliance today is creating an effective system to combat drones.

It is noted that NATO Command Transformation has introduced a multi-level initiative to counter LCI-X UAVs, within the framework of which relevant exercises are being conducted.

During the second phase of the exercises, which took place in Finland, they tested not individual technologies for combating drones, but methods of integrating them into a single system.

Sensors, control systems, tactical cells, and response capabilities were combined into a single system that was tested under real-world jamming and spoofing conditions.

In addition, Ukrainian JATEC experts were involved in the exercises, who ensured that the scenarios were as close as possible to real combat conditions and advised participants based on Ukrainian experience.

JATEC experts helped develop scenarios for the actions of a conventional enemy (Red Team) using aircraft-type drones and FPV drones.

The team that repelled the attack practiced detecting, identifying, and tracking targets, their virtual interception, and transmitting information to the control center.

About 10 companies from different countries presented their solutions. During the exercise, NATO evaluated the manufacturers’ proposed systems for target detection, recognition, and interception, as well as real-time data transmission capabilities.

The next phases of the LCI-X exercise will be dedicated to integrating these solutions with NATO air command and control systems, as well as practicing cross-border operations.

The Ministry of Defense emphasized that Ukraine not only receives assistance from partners in the field of countering drones, but also forms modern approaches to combating them itself. Ukrainian experience is already helping allies to more quickly improve technologies and tactics for countering UAVs.
