NATO officials will keep secret details of military aid packages that member countries are providing to Ukraine. The lack of such information will make it more difficult for the Russian military to plan its own operations in Ukraine.

This was reported by The Moscow Times, citing officials from countries that are part of the NATO bloc.

Germany had previously made a similar decision when Friedrich Merz became chancellor. Berlin decided not to disclose information about the supply of long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine, and later classified all information related to military support.

“At first we published everything. Then we asked: why? We even indicated the number of missiles and ammunition. In the end, we realized that this helps Putin, not German society,” said one of the German diplomats.

According to the publication’s interlocutors, NATO is growing concerned that Russia is taking advantage of the alliance’s information openness.

“Everything that is discussed or happens at press conferences appears in Telegram news feeds almost in real time. It seems that they are following it even more closely than our own media,” said a representative of one of the leading Alliance countries.

He noted that the lengthy negotiations between the defense and foreign ministers had aroused increased interest in Russian state media.

We were especially closely following the meeting with the head of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, Rustem Umerov, after which it became known about NATO’s decision to allocate €20 billion in military assistance to Ukraine for 2025.

“The TASS and RIA Novosti feeds were filled with details of the discussions,” the publication’s source said.

Another source of the publication reported that Russian TV channels actively analyzed the statements of ministers of NATO member countries in their flagship programs, interpreting them in a light favorable to Moscow.

The article notes that the Kremlin is betting on turning even the most insignificant episodes into reasons for scandals and conflicts. This strategy, according to the publication, has been clearly demonstrated in recent disinformation campaigns against Moscow’s opponents.

French President Emmanuel Macron found himself at the center of such a campaign: first because of rumors about his wife, and then in the episode with a slap before leaving the plane on the gangway.

Similar tactics have been used against other European leaders who support Ukraine, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer.

Recall that on the eve of the NATO summit, which will be held on June 24-26 in The Hague, a draft final declaration was published, which has already caused a wave of criticism. The document does not mention the prospect of Ukraine joining the Alliance, and there are no specific commitments regarding long-term security support for Kyiv.

As reported, German intelligence has concrete evidence of the Kremlin’s preparations for potential aggression against NATO. Thus, the aggressor country plans to test the effectiveness of Article 5 of the North Atlantic Treaty, which guarantees mutual defense in the event of an attack on one of the Alliance member states.

By the way, President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has appointed a new head of Ukraine’s mission to NATO.
