Nature’s revenge: a new powerful earthquake occurred in Russia

On the night of August 27, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.5 occurred in the Caspian Sea, and strong tremors were felt by residents of Dagestan.

This was reported by EMSC-CSEM.

Experts specify that the epicenter of the earthquake was located in the Caspian Sea at a depth of about ten kilometers, approximately 28 kilometers east of Izberbash and 51 kilometers from Derbent.

According to local reports, in the middle of the night, many residents hurriedly left their apartments and houses, taking to the streets and trying to stay away from buildings.

Eyewitnesses say that the tremors were felt sharply, and the rumble that accompanied them created a sense of danger. Many did not dare to return home until the morning.

The earthquake was also felt by residents of neighboring settlements, including Derbent, Kaspiysk and Khasavyurt, as well as in Chechnya, Astrakhan, Pyatigorsk, Kislovodsk, Aktau and Azerbaijan.

There are no reports of casualties or damage yet, but experts say the possibility of new aftershocks remains.

Earlier , a powerful earthquake measuring 8.8 on the Richter scale struck the Kamchatka Peninsula in eastern Russia, triggering a tsunami that reached waves as high as 3 meters in some places .
