Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said peace talks over Russia’s war in Ukraine were far from over, but stressed the importance of preventing a situation in which Russia could dictate the terms of peace.

Tusk made his position public after consultations with European leaders on the progress of international negotiations. He stressed that the key risk for Ukraine and Western partners remains a possible split among allies, which could be exploited by Russia.
“The West and Ukraine will lose this confrontation if Russia can divide us and dictate the terms of peace,” said Donald Tusk.
The Polish Prime Minister separately drew attention to the United States’ statement on participation in security guarantees for Ukraine, calling it a positive result of the negotiations.
“The statement on US participation in security guarantees is a success,” wrote Donald Tusk.
At the same time, the head of the Polish government warned against premature conclusions and emphasized that the negotiation process will continue.
“But the negotiations are still far from being completed,” concluded Donald Tusk.
Earlier, the Kremlin stated that Ukraine must withdraw its troops from Donbas if it wants to end the fighting .
