The talks were attended by White House Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio and Jared Kushner, who met with Ukrainian officials on Sunday in Hallandale Beach, Florida.
A source directly familiar with the negotiations said that the discussion concerned issues considered to be among the most sensitive in the context of ending the war in Ukraine. The meeting is continuing in a working and substantive format.
“The negotiations are tough, but very constructive. So far, so good,” said a source familiar with the meeting.
Also, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Rustem Umerov, stated that the meeting in Florida with senior US officials was “productive and successful.”
“Our goal is a prosperous, strong Ukraine. We discussed all the issues important for Ukraine. And the US was extremely supportive,” Umerov told reporters.
He added that the meeting was based on the successes of previous negotiations between the US and Ukraine in Geneva.
