Finnish President Alexander Stubb stated that trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia have effectively reached a dead end.

VG reports this.

According to him, after three rounds of talks this winter, there are no signs of further progress. One possible reason could be the escalating situation in the Middle East, including the war in Iran, which is distracting international attention.

At the same time, Stubb believes that the key problem is the lack of a real desire for peace on the part of Russia.

“I don’t believe that Russia is striving for peace,” he emphasized.

The President also noted that the United States has already done everything possible to advance the negotiation process, but the main stumbling block remains the issue of territories.

He also drew attention to the easing of sanctions against Russian oil, which, in his opinion, has a negative impact on the situation.

Stubb emphasized that further pressure on Russia is necessary, but current circumstances do not facilitate this.

Earlier, Russian dictator Vladimir Putin’s press secretary, Dmitry Peskov, announced that trilateral negotiations between Ukraine, the United States, and Russia had been suspended.

As a reminder, the peace process to end the war between Ukraine and Russia is in jeopardy . According to diplomats, this is due to US President Donald Trump’s diminished interest in the negotiations and the escalating situation in the Middle East, which is distracting Washington.
