The attempt by Donald Trump’s team to hold “peace talks” in Moscow did not affect the Kremlin’s position and did not bring the end of the war against Ukraine closer.

The Times writes about this.

According to the publication, Washington has once again overestimated Vladimir Putin’s willingness to abandon his intentions to completely subjugate Ukraine. Recent weeks of diplomacy, rewritten draft agreements, and a visit by American negotiators have yielded no results.

Journalists note that the lack of progress has deepened the differences between the US and Europe, and Moscow is watching this with pleasure. Analyst Alexander Baunov explains that Putin is not offering the West and Ukraine different options for peace, but a choice between continuing the war or negotiations, which will still preserve Russian demands.

Baunov also claims that Putin is satisfied with the course of the war and personally gives orders to generals in uniform. Despite record losses and economic pressure, the Kremlin is confident in the ability of Russians to “suffer” and pay more to continue the war.

Publicist Andrey Kolesnikov adds that the Kremlin believes in the “limitless ability” of the population to adapt even in a regime of long-term confrontation with the West.

Journalist Alexander Nevzorov believes that Putin’s fear of Trump has disappeared, and all the loud statements of the American president turned out to be “fiction.”

It was previously reported that the American delegation had a telephone conversation with the Ukrainian team after meeting with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in Moscow.

As a reminder, European media reported on the leak of a transcript of a conversation between EU leaders, which allegedly contained a statement by Emmanuel Macron about a possible “betrayal” of Ukraine by the United States.
