Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Garibabadi denied the attack on the international airport in Azerbaijan on March 5.

He told this to the AnewZ TV channel.

According to the Iranian official, Tehran allegedly does not use targets in neighboring states for attacks. Garibabadi noted that the incident in question should be investigated.

The Deputy Foreign Minister added that Iran only strikes those countries that host military bases of “enemies” on their territory.

A similar statement was issued by the General Staff of Iran, the Tasnim news agency reports .

“The Islamic Republic of Iran, respecting the sovereignty of all countries, including Muslim and neighboring states, denies the launch of any drones by its armed forces in the direction of the Republic of Azerbaijan,” the publication quotes.

Instead, Tehran blamed Israel for the attack, noting that Tel Aviv’s goal was to disrupt relations between Muslim countries.

It was previously reported that Iranian drones hit two locations in Azerbaijan , causing injuries and the evacuation of nearby educational institutions.
