In Ukraine, two companies have successfully tested new interceptor drones designed to combat Shahed jets. During combat tests, one of these interceptors destroyed a Russian drone.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated this during his speech at the Carpathian Initiative summit.
According to him, both companies have already passed tests in real combat conditions.
“Two companies successfully passed the tests – combat tests. The enemy “Shahed” was destroyed, they were moving at a fairly high speed. This is a big positive,” Zelenskyy said.
The President noted that the state wants to evaluate the results of all tests in order to move to mass production of such interceptors as soon as possible. According to him, negotiations are already underway with the developers and contracts are being signed.
In total, 67 companies in Ukraine are working on interceptors for Russian jet drones. Zelensky stressed that the issue of financing must be resolved to launch mass production.
“Yesterday we spoke with the President of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen. We will meet with her in the near future. We are preparing some proposals on how to overcome the deficits,” the head of state noted.
Zelenskyy previously reported that Ukraine has already developed prototypes of high-speed interceptors to combat Shahed jets, and plans are underway to accelerate the production of such systems.
As a reminder, the European Union will allocate an additional 3.3 billion euros to Ukraine for the purchase of missiles and drones . The funds should arrive on September 18.
