New clashes have erupted along the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan, killing dozens of people.
This was reported by the Bloomberg news agency.
The situation escalated on the night of October 15. Pakistan reportedly killed up to 50 Afghan soldiers while repelling attacks in the northwestern provinces of Balochistan and Khyber Pradesh. In return, Afghanistan allegedly killed many Pakistani soldiers and captured weapons, tanks and their posts.
According to Reuters , today’s fighting was the most violent clashes between the two countries since the Taliban seized power in Kabul in 2021.
Subsequently, Afghanistan and Pakistan managed to agree on a temporary ceasefire that would last for 48 hours.
As the Pakistani Foreign Ministry assured, the ceasefire was introduced at the request of the Afghan government. During its duration, the parties will try to find a positive solution to the conflict.
Instead, a spokesman for the Taliban administration emphasized that the temporary ceasefire was the result of “the request and insistence of the Pakistani side.”
Recall, late on Saturday evening, October 11, intense fighting began on the border between Afghanistan and Pakistan after Kabul accused Islamabad of carrying out airstrikes on the Afghan capital.
