On Wednesday, April 15, the 34th meeting of the Contact Group on Defense Issues of Ukraine in the “Ramstein” format was held in the German capital.
Following the meeting, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy spoke about the agreements with partners.
In particular, five countries, including Lithuania and Estonia, confirmed new contributions to the PURL program, through which Ukraine receives American weapons.
Zelenskyy thanked Germany for continuing to work on air defense and Ukrainian deep strike capabilities, Great Britain for continuing to work to supply the necessary drones, and Canada for further strengthening certain defense areas.
As the president noted, Norway has allocated more than $500 million to provide drone brigades and $150 million to strengthen Ukrainian logistics.
The Netherlands will allocate more than 200 million euros for drones, and Belgium will allocate additional money for the supply of shells and strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.
Separately, Zelenskyy emphasized Spain’s readiness to work within the framework of the European SAFE program to increase joint defense capabilities.
It is also worth noting that NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte said that this year, the alliance members plan to provide Ukraine with $60 billion in military assistance. This money will be in addition to the EU loan of 90 billion euros.
“The main thing is that every commitment that is announced is fully and timely fulfilled. When our protection is sufficient, Russia has no opportunity to actually achieve its occupation goals,” Zelensky noted.
Recall that the United Kingdom will transfer at least 120,000 drones to Ukraine this year . This is the largest package of drones from London during the entire period of the full-scale war.
