The European Union is preparing a new tranche of defense support for Ukraine worth about 80 million euros. The funds are due to arrive in early 2026 and will be generated from excess profits received from frozen Russian assets.
This was reported to the Public by a senior EU official on condition of anonymity.
According to him, this will be the fourth such payment. In total, the European Union expects to receive approximately 185 million euros in surplus profits per year in two tranches, of which the next will be about 80 million.
Brussels will offer member states options on how to use these funds. The preference, as before, is for the purchase of Ukrainian defense products. Drones, partly ammunition and air defense systems remain the priority.
As previously reported, Ukraine and the International Monetary Fund agreed on a new 4-year support program worth $8.2 billion.
