In the US, the Department of Defense and the FBI have released more than 200 previously classified or restricted documents and videos about unidentified aerial phenomena. The materials contain testimonies from military personnel, astronauts and civilians, but American authorities claim there is no evidence of extraterrestrial origin of the objects.
This is reported by The Guardian .
In early May, the US Department of Defense released 162 documents and videos related to sightings of unidentified aerial phenomena. The Pentagon later released another 50 archive files covering events from decades past.
The materials contain testimonies from civilians and military personnel who reported incomprehensible objects in the sky. At the same time, the Pentagon’s department, which analyzes unidentified aerial phenomena, said that it has no evidence of extraterrestrial origin of any of the objects recorded in the videos or written reports.
The US Department of Defense also noted that some of the released materials do not have a confirmed chain of custody.
“The public can form their own opinion on the information in the files,” the department said.
Among the released videos are recordings made in the Middle East in 2019, off the coast of Iran in 2022, and over Syria in 2021. One of the videos shows a group of four unidentified objects flying near ships, while another shows an object rapidly changing direction.
The documents also mention a recording of Mercury Atlas 8 astronaut Wally Schirra’s conversations with mission control in 1962. The astronaut reported “small white objects” moving away from the capsule, as well as an unknown flash in the window.
Separately, the FBI has released archival documents about sightings of mysterious objects near US nuclear facilities in New Mexico in 1948-1950. The reports include at least 209 reports of unknown phenomena in the Sandia base area.
The documents describe “green fireballs” that moved at high speed and changed trajectory at unusual angles. They also mention studies of microparticles detected after the appearance of unknown objects. Astrophysicist Neil deGrasse Tyson criticized the inclusion of NASA materials in the Pentagon release.
“NASA spends time in space, and I understand that if aliens appear from somewhere, it would probably be space. What the astronauts saw would have a complete, exhaustive, rational explanation,” the scientist said.
By the way, the US Department of Defense has released 162 declassified files related to UFO sightings and unidentified anomalous phenomena over the past almost 80 years. The documents were released after US President Donald Trump’s executive order on maximum transparency regarding materials on UFOs and extraterrestrial life.
Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced his intention to declassify government documents related to alien life and unidentified flying objects . This is the beginning of the process of identifying and publishing materials related to unidentified aerial phenomena. The day before, NASA space agency director Bill Nelson admitted the possibility of the existence of aliens .
