New power outages and increased consumption in Ukraine: Ukrenergo made a statement

Electricity consumption has increased in Ukraine, and new power outages have been recorded in seven regions due to Russian attacks and bad weather. Energy workers are already restoring damaged networks where the security situation allows.

This was reported by NPC Ukrenergo.

Due to Russian drone attacks and artillery shelling, there are new power outages in Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk, Vinnytsia, Zhytomyr, Mykolaiv, Chernihiv, and Sumy regions. Emergency restoration work is already underway.

Additionally, heavy rain and wind left consumers in the Dnipropetrovsk, Kyiv, and Chernihiv regions without electricity. Repair crews from the regional energy company are restoring damaged power lines.

At the same time, the load on the power system increased in the morning. As of 09:30 on September 22, electricity consumption was 4.5% higher than at the same time the day before.

Ukrenergo explained that the reason was cloudy and rainy weather in most regions. Because of this, household solar power plants produce less electricity, which is why consumption from the general network is increasing.

The day before, on September 21, the daily maximum consumption was also higher — by 2.2% compared to the maximum of the previous business day, on September 18.

Given the weather conditions, Ukrenergo calls for economical consumption of electricity throughout the day – from 10:00 to 22:00.

At the same time, the application of hourly outage schedules is not expected on September 22. The situation in the power system may change, so consumers are advised to monitor the messages of their regional energy company.
