New tranche from the IMF: Ukraine will receive $690 million

Ukraine will receive a new loan tranche from the International Monetary Fund in the amount of $690 million. The decision was made by the IMF Board of Directors after completing the next review of the financing program for Ukraine.

This was reported by the International Monetary Fund.

The department noted that after the allocation of the new tranche, the total amount of funds that Ukraine has already received under this program will reach about $2.2 billion.

The IMF stressed that despite the full-scale war, Ukraine has managed to maintain macroeconomic and financial stability. At the same time, the Fund warned that the economic outlook has worsened due to increased Russian attacks on critical infrastructure, as well as the impact of the war in the Middle East.

“Ukraine has generally demonstrated satisfactory program implementation results. All quantitative performance criteria and indicative targets as of end-March were met, although the target for net international reserves as of end-June was not achieved,” the IMF said in a statement.

The Fund also noted that the implementation of certain reforms has slowed down, and some structural milestones have been implemented late or have not yet been implemented.

IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva emphasized that maintaining macroeconomic stability remains a key task for Ukraine.

“Maintaining macroeconomic stability remains an immediate priority for Ukraine,” Georgieva said, calling for continued prudent fiscal and monetary policies and strengthening the financial sector.

As a reminder, newly elected Prime Minister Serhiy Koretsky held his first international conversation after his appointment. The main topics of discussion were the next review of the IMF program for Ukraine and further financial support for the country.
