On the night of Tuesday, January 20, Russia launched another attack on Kyiv. An air alert was declared in the capital at 01:30 — the reason was the threat of the use of strike drones. Later, the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine warned Kyiv residents of a possible launch of ballistic missiles.

This was reported by the press center of the Air Force Command.

At around 2 a.m., the enemy launched several strikes on the city using ballistic weapons. A series of powerful explosions were heard in various areas of the capital.

Kyiv Mayor Vitaliy Klitschko reported that one person was injured in the attack in the Dnipro district of the capital. An emergency medical team quickly arrived at the victim.

As of 03:00, damage was reported in the Dnipro district. Non-residential objects were hit. In addition, one of the enemy drones fell into an open area, which led to the burning of several cars.

Rescuers and emergency services are working on the scene, and the consequences of the shelling are being eliminated.

According to the mayor of Kyiv, power and water outages have been recorded on the Left Bank of the city. Social infrastructure facilities have been switched to backup power sources to ensure their uninterrupted operation.

The situation in the capital’s power system is also complicated by previous massive attacks by the Russian Federation and prolonged frosts. For almost a week, emergency power outages have been in effect in Kyiv without clear schedules. City residents also complained about interruptions in water supply and heating – hundreds of houses were left without heat for several days.

Against the backdrop of these events, a state of emergency was introduced in Ukraine in the energy sector. A special headquarters was created in Kyiv to overcome the consequences of the emergency, and additional Invincibility Points were deployed. In addition, the curfew was relaxed in the capital so that citizens could reach heating points at any time.

As a reminder, on the afternoon of January 19, Russian troops launched guided airstrikes on the Slobodskyi district of Kharkiv , killing a woman and injuring others.

As reported, Russian troops launched massive strikes on the Chernihiv region over the past day, targeting energy facilities. As a result of the attacks, about 100 settlements were left without electricity and civilian infrastructure was damaged.
