No evidence provided because there is none: Poroshenko calls for lifting Zelensky’s sanctions

The decree of President Volodymyr Zelensky on the introduction of sanctions must be cancelled, because the president’s representatives have not been able to provide any documents on the grounds for such sanctions for five months.

Petro Poroshenko said this before the Supreme Court session.

“Today, the court has been considering these illegal sanctions for five months already. I would like to emphasize separately that the law gives the subjects of authority – and this is the President of Ukraine, the Cabinet of Ministers as the initiators – 15 days to provide all and any grounds that would allow the subject of authority.”

“The deadline for another month that they asked for in order to find grounds to justify their illegal actions has expired. On June 9, the deadline for them to provide evidence expired, after which you can no longer submit anything,” the fifth President of Ukraine noted.

“Based on the analysis that was done by my legal team, the government is, to put it mildly, playing the fool. It wants to joke not only about me, not only about the Supreme Court, but about all of you. The government did not provide it because it cannot provide it, because there is nothing, no evidence,” Poroshenko emphasized.

“They have not said a word in 128 days. They are not ignoring Poroshenko. They are ignoring the Supreme Court. They think that the Supreme Court is a department or division of the Cabinet of Ministers or the Office of the President. No. It is an independent, I very much hope, branch of government. It is a crime when they try to implement a court decision in this way,” he also said.

“The interview of President Zelensky on February 13, the day after the introduction of illegal sanctions, when he directly and firmly said that “you will be surprised, it will be terrible as you will see the next day that Poroshenko with his charitable foundation took billions of hryvnias abroad, and distributed these billions of hryvnias of your money.” Then they found that Poroshenko did not take the border anywhere, and 7 billion hryvnias were directed to support the Armed Forces,” the fifth President of Ukraine noted.

“Now you will see another show. You will be told once again that there was not enough time. This must be stopped. If there is evidence, present it to the court; if there is no evidence, cancel the decree. If you do not cancel it, the court will cancel it. If this does not happen, you will be held accountable before the European Court,” he said. Poroshenko emphasized.

“As of today, there are only two options. First, all participants in the process from the president have not provided legal grounds for imposing sanctions. This is a statement of fact. The last time they asked for a month, nothing was provided. And this means that if there are no legal grounds for imposing sanctions, then they have only one ground – political grounds. Grounds, when they fight the opposition, they fight the opposition with democracy. When they try to transform our free democratic Ukrainian state here, they transform it according to the Russian scenario.

“My advice if you deceived Volodymyr Oleksandrovich Zelensky is to admit it and advise him to cancel the decree. If you do not have the courage, I really hope that the Supreme Court will pass this test now or at the next session. It must make this decision, there is no alternative. Poroshenko.
