Severe frosts are not forecast for Ukraine on the weekend of February 7–8, but weather conditions will be challenging due to precipitation, fog, and ice.
This was reported by meteorologist Natalia Didenko.
According to the forecast, nighttime temperatures will range from -3 to -8°C, with 0 to -4°C in the west and around 0°C in the south. Daytime temperatures are expected to be 0 to -4°C, with temperatures around freezing in the western regions, 2 to +5°C in the south, and up to 6 to +10°C in Crimea.
On Sunday, February 8, it will become colder during the day, and in the north of the country, the evening temperature may drop to -6…-9 °C.
Natalia Didenko noted that periodic precipitation in the form of sleet and rain will fall across Ukraine throughout the weekend. This could lead to melting ice on roads and sidewalks, forming what’s known as slush.
Additionally, due to warmer temperatures and increased humidity, fog is expected. The highest probability of fog is on Saturday, with visibility reduced to 300-500 meters or less.
Weather in Kyiv
Fog and occasional sleet are also forecast for the capital this weekend. Temperatures will range from -5 to -7°C on Saturday night to -2 to -4°C during the day. On Sunday, lows of -4 to -7°C are expected overnight and during the day, with temperatures potentially dropping to -9°C by evening.
The weather forecaster also reported that a new wave of frosts will hit Ukraine between February 9 and 11, but a warming trend is predicted for February 12.
