Mass protests have taken place in cities across the United States in response to US airstrikes on Iranian nuclear facilities. The demonstrations were held under the slogans “No war with Iran” and “Money for education, not missiles.”

According to journalists, protests have spread to Washington, New York, Chicago, Boston, San Francisco and other cities. At least 200 people gathered outside the White House in the capital, and the same number took to the streets of Chicago. In some cities, several dozen protesters took part, but protests took place in almost every metropolis.
Protesters called President Donald Trump’s actions a war crime that violates international law and could lead to a global catastrophe. Protesters called on the government to focus on domestic problems — health care, education, the economy — instead of dragging the country into another war in the Middle East.
“Americans don’t want another war. We’re tired. We want health insurance, roads that don’t fall apart, and schools for our children, not billions on missiles,” said one of the participants in the action in San Francisco.
Among the protesters were representatives of the Iranian diaspora. In particular, Leila from Washington came to the protest with a poster “No to war with Iran”, concerned about the fate of her relatives, who had not been able to get in touch for several days due to the Internet shutdown in Tehran.
Vietnam War veteran Marco Marcel, who has been participating in the anti-war movement “Veterans for Peace” since the 2000s, also joined the protest.
“I know what war is. And I know for sure that it solves nothing – it only multiplies suffering,” he said from the stage in front of the White House.
The organizers of the protests were well-known public initiatives – Palestinian Youth Movement, ANSWER Coalition, The People’s Forum, and the National Iranian American Council.
As is known, on June 13 , Israel launched a large-scale air strike on the territory of Iran . The targets were facilities related to the Iranian nuclear program. As a result of the air strike on Tehran , more than 70 people died, including at least 20 high-ranking military personnel .
As a reminder, the United States Air Force attacked Iran’s nuclear infrastructure , including the most protected facility in Fordow. Later, Pentagon chief Pete Haggett said that the United States’ strikes had destroyed Iran’s nuclear program .
