Nobody turned it off, there just wasn’t enough space: a Donetsk court explained why “Pryamyy” is not on the air

On March 30, 2026, the Donetsk District Administrative Court dismissed a lawsuit filed by the television company “Pryamyy” regarding its removal from the T2 digital broadcast network. The legal proceedings lasted nearly four years.

The court issued its ruling, justifying it on the grounds that the broadcaster formally remains part of the “Yedyni Novyny #UArazom” telethon.

Representatives of the TV channel, expressing their disagreement with this verdict, claim that the court did not take their arguments into account and consider the ruling unlawful. Preparations for filing an appeal are currently underway.

The court also noted that the aforementioned marathon is broadcast on the 21st channel of the MX-3 multiplex, and the channel’s name is displayed, which, in the court’s opinion, confirms its presence. At the same time, it was established that in April 2022, the TV channel’s signal was switched to the marathon by decision of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine.

However, the court did not cite a specific legal provision that would directly regulate this switch.

In addition, the judicial panel concluded that RRT Concern provided equal technical capabilities to all broadcasters, and participation in the unified marathon depends solely on the decision of the television company itself.

We will remind, earlier the Kyiv District Administrative Court did not satisfy the claim of “Channel 5” to recognize the illegal inaction of the Cabinet of Ministers, the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection, and the Concern for Radio Broadcasting, Radio Communications and Television (RRT).

It is known that the lawsuit concerned the disconnection of “Pryamoy”, “Channel 5” and “Espresso” from digital broadcasting of the T2 standard. Currently, the “Rada” TV channel is broadcasting in their places.
