North Korean leader Kim Jong-un personally visited the testing of new unmanned aerial vehicles at the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Technology Association. Among the models demonstrated were heavy bomber drones that drop ammunition, as well as the Kumsong series of tactical strike drones.

This is reported by Seoul Newspaper .

During the tests, North Korean engineers demonstrated a multi-rotor drone-bomber capable of dropping up to two 60- or 82-mm artillery shells. These drones are likely the result of studying the experience of using drones in Ukraine, where the Ukrainian military is actively using similar devices against infantry and equipment.

North Korea is actively developing unmanned aircraft, creating models similar to the Israeli “Hero” and “Harop”, as well as the Russian “Lancet” and “Geran-2”. These drones are designed to perform a variety of combat missions, from reconnaissance to strikes on ground targets.

According to South Korean media, North Korea and Russia have reached an agreement on technical assistance in the development and production of drones. This cooperation includes the exchange of technology and experience in creating strike and reconnaissance drones, which increases the combat capabilities of both countries.

The active use of drones in Ukraine has become an important factor in shaping North Korean military strategy. After significant losses of North Korean troops in the Kursk region of Russia, the DPRK began to actively introduce unmanned systems to increase the effectiveness of its armed forces.

North Korea plans to further develop unmanned aircraft, including the creation of new models of drones equipped with artificial intelligence for autonomous combat missions. This will significantly increase the effectiveness of military operations and reduce risks to personnel.

The development of unmanned aircraft in the DPRK is causing concern among the international community, in particular among neighboring countries and the United States. These technologies could change the balance of power in the region and affect security in the Asia-Pacific region.

The integration of artificial intelligence into unmanned systems can significantly increase their autonomy and effectiveness. This includes the ability to make independent decisions, adapt to changing combat conditions, and reduce response time to threats.

Drones are becoming an important element of modern warfare, allowing for precise strikes on hard-to-reach targets, reconnaissance, and battlefield monitoring. Their use reduces risks to personnel and increases the effectiveness of military operations.

North Korea has made significant progress in developing unmanned systems, creating models that meet modern combat requirements. These achievements demonstrate a high level of technological development and the country’s ability to independently produce complex military systems.

Given the growing role of unmanned systems in modern warfare, we can expect their active use in future conflicts. This may lead to changes in warfare strategies, in particular, a decrease in the role of traditional combat units and an increase in the importance of technological systems.

By the way, Ukrainian intelligence has discovered that North Korea is continuously supplying Russia with huge amounts of ammunition , from artillery shells to ballistic missiles and multiple launch rocket systems, using sea, rail and air routes. Up to several million shells are supplied per month through just one targeted channel.

As a reminder, North Korea is planning to transfer up to 6,000 troops and equipment to Russia in the near future. As reported, the DPRK has transferred approximately 6.5 million 122-caliber artillery shells and up to 600 artillery systems to Russia .
