Norway approves $8.2 billion in aid to Ukraine for 2026
Norway has approved an aid package for Ukraine for 2026 in the amount of $8.2 billion. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky called the decision an important signal to Russian dictator Vladimir Putin.
Zelenskyy announced this on the social network X.
According to the president, the decision of the Norwegian parliament will significantly strengthen Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian aggression.
“Today, the Norwegian Parliament approved $8.2 billion in aid to Ukraine for 2026. Thank you to Prime Minister Jonas Gaard Støre, the Parliament, and all of Norway for this,” Zelensky wrote.
He also emphasized that Ukraine highly appreciates Norway’s long-term military and humanitarian support, which, according to him, is an example of leadership, dedication, and strategic reliability.
“Such contributions strengthen Ukraine’s ability to resist Russian aggression and send a clear signal to the Putin regime: Ukraine will continue to have the support of its allies, will be able to stop Russia, and restore lasting peace,” the president emphasized.
In addition, Zelensky noted that each such step of support weakens Russia’s attempts to impose fear and confusion on Europe.
As previously reported, US President Donald Trump signed the National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2026, providing $400 million in aid to Ukraine.
