Norway has allocated almost $100 million for Ukraine: where will the funds be directed?
Before the start of the new heating season, the Norwegian government allocated almost $100 million to provide Ukraine with sufficient energy.
This is stated on the government website.
The allocated funds will be used to import gas from Western sources for the Ukrainian population, business and industry. It is planned that in this way Norway will provide heat and electricity to about a million families.
The money will come through the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, and the recipient will be the Ukrainian company Naftogaz.
“President Zelenskyy has asked us to help ensure electricity and heating in Ukraine until the next winter. I am very pleased that we can respond positively to this request,” said the Norwegian Foreign Minister.
As noted, the new assistance will be in addition to the support provided in March of this year.
The head of the Norwegian ministry emphasized that his country has long been a partner for Ukraine in the energy sector.
“By investing in Ukraine’s transition to a future energy system, while increasing support to ensure the population’s access to electricity and heat this winter, we are supporting Ukraine’s energy security and ensuring the basic needs of the population both today and in the years to come,” he concluded.
It was previously reported that Norway plans to allocate more than 6.5 billion Norwegian kroner, which is about $644 million , for the purchase of unmanned aerial vehicles and related technologies from manufacturers in Ukraine and Europe.
