Norway will allocate billions to Ukraine for defense: what will be financed

Norway plans to allocate 85 billion Norwegian kroner to Ukraine in 2027. This is about 9 billion dollars.
This was stated by Norwegian Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre during a meeting with the presidents of Ukraine and Finland, Volodymyr Zelensky and Alexander Stubb. The meeting took place on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly.
“We are seeing a surge in Russian attacks on Ukrainian infrastructure, leading to disruptions in energy supplies and grain exports. We will continue to provide support to strengthen Ukraine’s overall defense capabilities and resilience,” Stere said.
Most of the funds will be directed to military assistance. One of the main areas will be strengthening Ukraine’s air defense.
Norway will also continue humanitarian assistance and support for the Ukrainian energy sector.
“This support is vital not only for Ukraine, but also for ensuring the security of our own country, which shares a border with the Russian Federation,” Stere emphasized.
He also stated that Norway would support efforts to start real negotiations between Ukraine and Russia.
As previously reported, Norway will allocate 90 million euros to support reforms in Ukraine in the areas of combating corruption and energy . The funds will be channeled through the Ukraine Support Fund within the framework of the European mechanism Ukraine Facility.
