Norway will allocate over 250 million euros to Ukraine through the PURL program: details

Norway has announced the provision of 2.8 billion Norwegian kroner to Ukraine, which amounts to over 259 million euros, as part of NATO’s Prioritized Ukraine Requirements List (PURL) initiative for the procurement of American weapons.

The Norwegian government noted that the funding will be directed to support Ukraine’s defense needs through the NATO mechanism, which allows the country to promptly provide the necessary weapons.

Oslo emphasized that this decision reflects Norway’s strategic position in supporting Ukraine amid ongoing security tensions in the region.

The country’s government emphasized that such assistance should strengthen Ukraine’s ability to resist threats and strengthen its defense capabilities.

The PURL initiative involves coordinating the procurement of necessary weapons for Ukraine, in particular American-made ones, in accordance with the current needs of the Ukrainian army.

This step also confirms Norway’s intention to continue supporting Ukraine and investing in the stability and security of Europe.

It was previously reported that the UK government plans to begin negotiations on joining the European Union’s €90 billion loan program for Ukraine . Prime Minister Keir Starmer is expected to announce his intention to cooperate with the EU on supporting Ukraine and supplying military equipment.

As a reminder, Ukraine received the last tranche of financial assistance from the UK — 752 million pounds sterling (approximately 1 billion dollars) . These funds will be used for the needs of the security and defense sector.
