Not a drone, but a missile: what really destroyed the house during the attack on Poland

Poland has determined the cause of the destruction of a private house in the Lublin Voivodeship. It turned out that the house in Wyryki was hit by a missile fired by a Polish F-16 fighter jet. The plane was trying to shoot down a Russian drone during a night attack.
This information was published by the Polish publication Rzeczpospolita , citing sources in security structures.
According to their data, an AIM-120 AMRAAM air-to-air missile launched from a Polish F-16 went off course due to a guidance system failure and fell on a residential building in Vyryky. Its length was about three meters and its weight exceeded 150 kg. Fortunately, the ammunition did not detonate thanks to fuses.
Deputy Minister of National Defense Cezary Tomczyk confirmed last week that three Russian drones had been shot down, but did not specify the location of the incident.
Former military intelligence officer and analyst Maciej Korowai emphasized that it was a kinetic strike.
“There was no explosion or detonation, as can be seen in the photos of the damaged house,” he said.
Meanwhile, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko said his country had “nothing to do” with Russian drone attacks on Poland or Lithuania. He even chided the Europeans for “overreacting.”
As is known, on the night of September 9-10, Russia carried out a massive attack on Ukraine, during which some of the drones violated Polish airspace . This forced Warsaw to raise its aviation and activate its air defense forces. In total, 19 drones crossed the Polish border, of which only four were shot down.
Against the backdrop of these events, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced the launch of Operation Eastern Sentinel , and the very next day, Poland announced its own military operation.
