Not married – to the front: in the Russian Federation they want to punish those who do not create a family

The declining birth rate, aging population, and high mortality rate pose a serious threat to the Russian Federation. Because of this, Russia wants to punish those who do not start families.

This was reported by the Foreign Intelligence Service of Ukraine.

The demographic crisis in the Russian Federation not only undermines economic stability, but also pushes the authorities to take radical measures to solve social problems.

In particular, the Russian parliament is considering a proposal to include unmarried men who do not make attempts to start a family on the so-called “black list” of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and punish them with corrective labor or sending them to war if they do not meet for three months.

“The situation is also exacerbated by a failed migration policy. The Russian Federation depends on labor migrants from Central Asia and other regions to eliminate the labor shortage. However, it seeks to use them to replenish its military ranks in the war against Ukraine. The lack of an effective integration policy, the growth of xenophobia, and discriminatory practices only complicate the problem,” the SZR notes.

Another trend is the involvement of minors in the military-industrial complex. Russian children are being recruited to manufacture UAVs used in the war against Ukraine.

Intelligence officials note that such practices indicate the degradation of social standards and priorities of a state that resorts to coercion and repression and puts military goals above the well-being of its citizens.

It was previously reported that Russia is experiencing a funeral boom. In the first half of 2025, 805 new funeral companies were registered in the country – 16% more than in the same period last year .

Recall that since July, Russia has stopped publishing population figures, the number of births, deaths, marriages, and divorces, so as not to draw attention to the demographic crisis.
