A spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry said that the Iranian parliament is preparing a bill to withdraw the country from the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons.
This was reported by Reuters.
The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman added that Tehran, as before, opposes the development of weapons of mass destruction.
Senior Iranian officials also called on the IAEA to condemn Israeli strikes on nuclear facilities during an emergency meeting on Monday, June 16.
“We expect the IAEA and Director General Rafael Grossi to take a firm position on condemning this act (Israeli strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities – ed.) and holding Israel accountable,” the Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman said during a press briefing.
It should be noted that the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons is a multilateral international act developed by the UN to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons in the world and to provide the necessary international control over the implementation of obligations to prevent the spread of nuclear weapons.
Recall that on the night of Friday, June 13, the Israeli army launched a large-scale operation against Iran and massively attacked nuclear and military facilities.
Earlier it became known that Iran refused to participate in negotiations with the United States regarding its nuclear program, scheduled for June 15 .
By the way, Iran officially confirmed the death of the head of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) missile program and seven other high-ranking officers as a result of an Israeli strike.
