The Russian military began to pressure the families of Ukrainian prisoners, forcing them to register Starlink satellite terminals in their own names.

This was reported by the Coordination Headquarters for the Treatment of Prisoners of War.

The headquarters notes that after the Ministry of Defense, together with SpaceX engineers, disabled the illegally used terminals, the occupiers changed tactics. Now they are intimidating the relatives of the prisoners and demanding that they register the equipment in their name.

According to the headquarters, such terminals are planned to be used in the war against Ukraine. Registering equipment for a citizen of Ukraine creates direct risks, because during registration, personal data is confirmed, which allows for unhindered identification of the person.

The Coordination Headquarters emphasizes that even formal participation in such actions can have serious legal consequences, especially in cases where the terminals are used to control drones or other combat missions.

The department urges families who receive threats, blackmail, or demands to register Starlink to immediately contact the Coordination Headquarters and law enforcement. They promise to provide advice on how to act safely and not harm themselves or their loved ones.

It was previously reported that a decrease in the number of assault operations by Russian troops was recorded at the front after the blocking of unregistered Starlink satellite internet terminals.

As a reminder, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Mykhailo Fedorov said that the Starlinks included in the “white list” are working, and the Russian terminals have already been blocked.
