Officially: Zelenskyy appointed acting head of the SBU

President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy officially appointed the head of the Special Operations Center “A” Yevheniy Khmara as the acting head of the Security Service of Ukraine.

This was reported by the Office of the President of Ukraine.

The head of state formalized the corresponding decision by decree No. 19/2026. The document provides that Yevheniy Khmara will temporarily perform the duties of the head of the SBU.

The decree entered into force on January 5, 2026.

As previously reported, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on a meeting with Vasyl Malyuk, during which he thanked him for his combat work and suggested continuing to focus on asymmetric operations against the Russian Federation.

As a reminder, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the appointment of the head of the Special Operations Center “A” of the Security Service of Ukraine, Yevgenia Khmara, as the head of the Security Service of Ukraine.
