Several employees of the Uzhhorod District CCC and SP were suspected after an inspection that revealed human rights violations.
This was reported by the Verkhovna Rada Commissioner for Human Rights Dmytro Lubinets.
According to him, during a monitoring visit to the Uzhhorod CCC, representatives of the Ombudsman recorded facts that became the basis for contacting law enforcement officers.
As a result, on June 4, the acting head of the district CCC and the head of the military accounting group were reported on suspicion of abuse of authority and illegal deprivation of liberty.
Another suspicion has been placed on a CCK instructor. According to Lubinets, he is suspected of torturing a conscript.
These are facts of illegal detention of people and the use of physical violence. Currently, all those involved have been detained, and the issue of preventive measures is still being resolved.
In addition, the representative of the Ombudsman, Andriy Kryukov, initiated an investigation into officials of the Transcarpathian Regional CCC, who may have known about these facts, but did not react to them.
The actions of the “West” operational command commission, which conducted an internal investigation, are being separately examined, but as Lubinets noted, did not indicate any obvious violations.
“The position is unambiguous: responsibility must be inevitable. For everyone – regardless of position, rank, or status,” the Ombudsman emphasized.
He added that the CCC cannot operate outside the law, and any human rights violations must be properly assessed and punished.
As previously reported, a 46-year-old man died in Ternopil on May 23 in the premises of the territorial recruitment center, who was taken to clarify his military registration data . Law enforcement officers are preliminary investigating the case as a suicide.
