Oil depot catches fire in Penza after night drone attack

The night of January 23rd passed restlessly in the Penza region of the Russian Federation – the region came under attack by drones, after which a fire broke out at a fuel storage facility in Penza itself.

According to Russian sources, in the dark hours of the day, residents of the region reported the appearance of unknown drones in the air. In the morning, it became known about an emergency at an oil depot, where a fire was recorded.

The head of the region, Oleg Melnychenko, publicly confirmed the incident, noting that a fire broke out at the facility at approximately 04:00 as a result of a drone strike. Authorities did not provide other details about the extent of the damage.

A reinforced fire brigade was involved in extinguishing the fire: almost fifty rescuers and more than a dozen units of special equipment worked at the scene.

As a reminder, on the night of January 22, units of the Defense Forces of Ukraine attacked the Krasnodar Territory of the Russian Federation and temporarily occupied territories, striking a number of enemy targets.

As reported, the Second Western District Military Court in Moscow recognized for the first time that the cruiser “Moskva” was destroyed as a result of the actions of the Ukrainian military.
