Global oil prices rose more than 3% on September 28 after US President Donald Trump rejected Iran’s peace offer, while Washington expects talks with Tehran to resume this week.

This is reported by Reuters .

Brent crude futures rose $3.43, or 3.29%, to $107.75 a barrel. U.S. WTI futures rose $2.14, or 2.32%, to $94.55 a barrel.

Last week, Iran presented a peace proposal at the UN General Assembly in New York. Tehran said the document was passed to the US side through intermediaries from Qatar.

Trump said on September 26 that he had rejected the offer, but the next day he announced that American negotiators could hold new meetings with Iran this week.

Analysts note that Trump’s refusal has lowered expectations of a quick diplomatic breakthrough, although the negotiation process has not stopped.

The oil market is also being affected by the security situation in the Middle East. The Saudi-led coalition said it had intercepted two ballistic missiles and two drones launched by the Iranian-backed Houthis towards the kingdom.

Meanwhile, oil supplies from key Middle Eastern countries resumed in September. According to preliminary data from Kpler, exports rose to 12.8 million barrels per day, the highest level since the war began in February.

In particular, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates have increased supplies. The volume of transportation through the Strait of Hormuz in September should reach about 7.4 million barrels per day.

The market is also monitoring the situation with American diesel fuel. Record prices for it are increasing inflation risks, and the US is discussing the possibility of restricting diesel exports, which could affect prices in Europe.
