Oleksandr Svishchov supported the publication of scientific works on Ukrainian history and heritage of the Shevchenko Scientific Society
The 134th anniversary of the Shevchenko Scientific Society Library, one of the most important institutions in the history of Ukrainian science and culture, was celebrated in Lviv. The president of the Ukrainian Water Polo Federation and philanthropist Oleksandr Svishchev joined the celebrations.
Oleksandr Svishchev reported this on his website.
The celebration took place at the Vasyl Stefanyk Lviv National Scientific Library of Ukraine. Scientists, historians, representatives of the cultural sphere, and philanthropists who support educational and scientific projects were invited to the event.
One of the main events was the presentation of new publications. Among them is the dictionary “Hidden Names”, on which scientists have been working for many years. It contains more than 24 thousand pseudonyms of Ukrainian writers, journalists and public figures.
They also presented research on the press of the Shevchenko Scientific Society and its influence on the development of Ukrainian journalism and intellectual life in Europe in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.
These books were published thanks to the support of the families of Oleksandr Svishchev and Yuriy Kotyk. During the event, the library staff thanked the patrons for their help in implementing scientific projects.
The participants in the celebrations emphasized that today, supporting science, education, and culture is of particular importance, because it is not only about preserving historical memory, but also about developing Ukrainian identity.
At the end of the event, guests were presented with copies of new publications, and the library management expressed the hope that cooperation with patrons will help implement many more important cultural and scientific projects.
