After the attack by Ukrainian drones, the Omsk Oil Refinery (REF) suspended operations.

This is reported by Reuters, citing two sources.

It is known that the Omsk Refinery is the largest oil refinery in Russia. The enterprise was attacked on July 6 by units of the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

It is noted that the enterprise is located deep in Siberia, so this attack was the furthest from the Ukrainian border since the beginning of the full-scale invasion.

Journalists suggest that the strike on the plant, which is the largest gasoline producer in Russia, could lead to a deepening of the fuel crisis in the country.

“As a result of the strike, the facilities of the Omsk Oil Refinery were damaged. There were no casualties among the company’s personnel,” said Anatoly Seryshev, the plenipotentiary representative of the Russian President in the Siberian Federal District.

According to sources, the impact caused a fire and damage to the CDU-10 primary oil distillation unit, which accounts for about 38% of the plant’s production capacity (24,580 metric tons per day).

In addition, on July 7, according to the St. Petersburg International Commodity Exchange, the Omsk Refinery stopped selling gasoline and diesel fuel.

According to Reuters, another primary processing unit, CDU-11, was also shut down. It accounts for about 37% of the plant’s production capacity and has a capacity of 24,000 tons of oil per day. Although the unit itself was not damaged, some connections necessary for its operation were disabled.

Journalists also note that the Omsk Refinery has two decommissioned primary processing units — CDU-7 and CDU-8. The capacity of each of them is 10 thousand tons of oil per day.

In 2024, the Omsk Refinery processed 22 million tons of oil (about 440 thousand barrels per day), producing 5 million tons of gasoline and 8 million tons of diesel fuel.

It was previously reported that Ukrainian drones first attacked the Omsk Oil Refinery, the largest enterprise of its kind in Russia . After the strike, a fire broke out on the territory of the plant, while the Russian authorities announced the operation of air defense systems.
